After a two hour bus ride through the Austrian alps, we arrived in Salzburg. The scenery was stunning, with green fields and quaint villages.
Salzburg was gorgeous. A city of only 150,000 it was beautifully preserved. A winding river ran through, with cliffs on both sides and castles and churches, gardens and squares. We had lunch in the oldest restaurant (from 807). There were Christmas markets, cobblestone walking streets and plenty of liederhausen to buy!
As in all the cities we have visited , plaques imbedded in the cobblestones, indicated where Jews had been deported in 1941-42, to their deaths in camps.
The bus took us back to the ship, in passau, Germany.
